Sep 10

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., September 10, 2021 – Coastal Spine and Pain Center (CSPC) announces the opening of a new location in Lake City, Florida. Located more centrally in north Florida, the Lake City Coastal Spine and Pain Center will serve patients outside of the Jacksonville area who need more convenient care. This will be the 12th location for CSPC with an opening date of September 10, 2021.

“We have seen the need to offer pain management to more Floridians and southeastern Georgia residents. Our Lake City center will offer the same range and quality of treatments available in our other North Florida and Southeast Georgia locations,” said CSPC founding physician Kenneth Powell, D.O. “We care for the health of our communities and recognize the need for expansion.”

Coastal Spine and Pain Center offers premier management and treatment for chronic and acute pain and medical conditions with associated pain. CSPC uses proven and approved treatments with a preference for minimally invasive procedures. Centers are located as far north as St. Marys, Georgia to the southwestern Middleburg, Florida.

The Lake City location will be headed by Dr. Hares Akbary, a pain and anesthesia specialist. As an interventional pain management physician and anesthesiologist, he supports patients dealing with pain using a multidisciplinary approach.

Prior to joining Coastal Spine and Pain Centers, Dr. Akbary was the medical director at the Center for Pain Management at Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, Ohio. He has also worked as an attending physician at Jax Spine and Pain Centers and the Nexus Pain Center in Columbus, Georgia.

Dr. Akbary received his Doctor of Medicine from Saint Christopher’s School of Medicine, Luton, England and completed his residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management. Dr. Akbary completed a fellowship in pain management at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Akbary has conducted research in molecular biochemistry and authored papers on various aspects of anesthesia interactions. He has experience and training that allow him to successfully treat conditions such as osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis, chronic headaches and migraines, pain of the neck, back and joints and many other neuropathies and syndromes with chronic pain. In addition, Dr. Akbary is fluent in German, French and Farsi. Patients who are more comfortable in these languages are encouraged to contact Dr. Akbary.

“Dr. Akbary’s deep understanding, experience and research in pain management and anesthesiology will benefit our pain patients at our new Lake City location. His multilingual abilities will enhance our patient services,” said fellow Coastal Spine and Pain Center physician Dr. Kenneth Powell.
