Coastal Spine and Pain Center Brings New Pain Management Physician to Fernandina and St. Marys

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Feb. 1, 2016 – Coastal Spine and Pain Center welcomes Dr. Eugene Wang, to better serve patients at their Fernandina Beach and new St. Mary’s locations.

Dr. Wang is board certified in neurology, pain medicine and neuroimaging. Before joining Coastal Spine and Pain Center, Dr. Wang has been a health care specialist, counselor for the developmentally disabled, extensive researcher and attending neurologist and neuroimager. He joins Coastal Spine from United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, NY where he served as an interventional pain physician and neuroimager.

“Neuroimaging involves using techniques and tools, such as x-rays and magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs), which allow certified medical professionals to see inside a patient’s body and determine course of treatments,” said Dr. Wang.

Dr. Wang trained at the pre-eminent fellowship in neuroimaging in Buffalo, and has special interest in spine imaging.

“Dr. Wang’s neuroimaging experience will provide greater accuracy in the diagnosis of our pain patients,” said Coastal Spine Physician Dr. Alan Miller. “We are pleased to have him on board as a Coastal Spine and Pain provider.”

Dr. Wang earned his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine after receiving honors from the Johns Hopkins University’s five-year neuroscience program. He is fellowship-trained in pain management at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia and in neuroimaging from the Dent Neurologic Institute in Buffalo, NY.

Dr. Wang is a member of the American Society of Neuroimaging, the Spine Intervention Society, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the American Academy of Neurology.

Receiving many accolades throughout his career, he was most recently honored with the American Society of Neuroimaging’s Oldendorf Award for his abstract on brain research, and has had multiple publications in major peer-reviewed pain journals. In addition to his many speaking engagements, he enjoys playing the violin, racquetball, tennis, traveling and cooking.
