Coastal Spine and Pain Center Welcomes Retired Naval Captain as Riverside Physician

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., October 20, 2017– Coastal Spine and Pain Center welcomes retired Naval Captain Timothy Sternberg, M.D., D.M.D., to their Riverside location.

Dr. Sternberg is a board-certified Florida physician with Coastal Spine and Pain Center who brings more than 25 years of pain management experience to the practice. Dr. Sternberg has particular expertise in complicated pain problems, cancer pain, facial pain and vertebral compression fractures.

“Patient centered and meticulous attention to detail, Dr. Sternberg practices evidence-based pain medicine that is safe, effective and practical,” said Coastal Spine and Pain Center Physician Dr. Kenneth Powell. “His extensive military and pain management experience will serve our patients with a variety of needs.”

Dr. Sternberg graduated from University of Florida’s College of Dentistry and the University of Miami’s School of Medicine. He trained at National Naval Medical Center Bethesda and the Medical University of South Carolina. He holds certifications with the American Board of Anesthesiology, American Board of Pain Medicine, and the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Care.

Dr. Sternberg retired as Captain, Medical Corps, USN, following his last assignment as Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, Naval Medical Center San Diego. During his time in the U.S. Navy, he practiced throughout the United States, Panama, the Persian Gulf and Puerto Rico. He earned numerous military awards, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Dr. Sternberg has published more than 40 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, and has lectured widely to medical, nursing and dental groups.
