Carpal Tunnel SyndromeCarpal tunnel syndrome is a condition that affects the hand and arm causing pain, numbness, tingling and burning, and eventually weakness in the index, middle and lower half of the ring fingers (the areas that are innervated by the median nerve). The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway that protects the main nerve to your hand and the nine tendons that bend your fingers.

Some conditions that can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome include:

  • obesity
  • hypothyroidism
  • arthritis
  • diabetes
  • pre-diabetes
  • tumors
  • trauma
