Read MoreDr. Michael Greene is a double board certified physician in both interventional pain medicine as well as physical medicine and rehabilitation. He completed a prestigious interventional pain fellowship under the instruction of Dr. Frank Falco in the Department of Pain Management at Temple University. This extensive program emphasized medical, procedural and surgical/implantable treatments of pain ailments and syndromes. Prior to that, he completed his residency training at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Greene received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine after graduating from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Prior to joining Coastal Spine and Pain Center, he was an attending physician in the Philadelphia area specializing in interventional treatment of pain where he partnered with an orthopedic spine surgeon. Dr. Greene is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the International Spine Intervention Society. He was awarded South Jersey’s “Top Doc” and Top Physician for Women in both 2013 and 2014.
Read MoreDr. Gary Kao is a Doctor of Medicine who is double board certified with the American Board of Anesthesia in both anesthesia and pain management. He graduated from and completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He later completed a residency in anesthesiology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Following his core residency, Dr. Kao pursued subspecialty training with a fellowship at Mount Sinai West/Morningside in New York City where he gained extensive experience and specialized training in pain management and procedural interventions. He also holds an undergraduate degree with honors in neuroscience from John Hopkins University.
Prior to joining Coastal Spine and Pain Center, Dr. Kao served as an interventional pain physician in Corpus Christi, Texas where he developed an interventional pain practice offering comprehensive care and CDC-compliant medication management when appropriate. Dr. Kao’s excellent service and tireless work built this clinic from a part-time satellite to a full-time operation expanding services to include more advanced procedures with a drive to be at the forefront of innovation and emerging technologies.
Dr. Kao is an active member in his specialty societies such as the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the North American Neuromodulation Society. He has been a contributor to peer-reviewed journals on pain management and has served as an instructor for other clinicians on specialty nerve blocks.
Read MorePaul Duff is a board certified physician assistant who received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Related Professions from the University of Florida in 1990. He spent 15 years in Cardio Thoracic surgery before beginning his career in pain management in 2005. He comes to us from the Jacksonville Spine Center with a focus in interventional-based pain management, including intrathecal pump and spinal cord stimulation management as well as Botox for dystonia conditions and chronic migraine headache management.

She earned her Master of Science in Nursing and Family Practice from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University. Before joining Coastal Spine and Pain Center, Morris was an advanced registered nurse practitioner with Coastal Family Medicine, caring for patients of diverse ages – from pediatrics through geriatrics. Morris is trained in EPIC computerized charting and Meditech charting and holds additional degrees in psychology and surgical technology.
Read MoreFred Thompson, III, APRN is board certified as an advanced practical nurse and in adult-gerontology primary care. He is also previously certified as a critical care nurse under the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Thompson earned his Master of Science degree from South University in Savannah, Georgia in addition to a Bachelor of Science and Associate of Science in Nursing from Florida State College, Jacksonville.
Prior to joining Coastal Spine and Pain Center, Thompson worked in the emergency department of Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville. He also practiced in intensive care units and in neurosurgery at various Jacksonville hospitals. Seventeen years of experience in those fields showcased his ability to work in high-pressure emergency situations as a leader. In addition, he has extensive experience in caring for patients with strokes and degenerative scoliosis. For his efforts in the ICU with the critical care unit, Thompson was twice awarded the Hero Award from the Night of Heroes with Trauma One Foundation in Jacksonville.
Thompson’s board certification in adult-geriatric medical care as well as background in acute medical care adds to Coastal Spine and Pain Center’s impressive roster of providers, enlisting his focused and specifically trained medical care to a clientele with changing health needs.
