Dr. Loch started his medical education at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduating medical school, he completed a highly competitive residency in anesthesiology at the University of Florida in Gainesville. While there, he developed a passion for treating patients with complex spine, joint, and nerve pathology. Staying at the University of Florida, he was selected for an elite fellowship in interventional pain management to train with nationally recognized leaders in the field. Dr. Loch is board certified in both anesthesiology and interventional pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is very experienced in image guided interventional procedures, having personally performed over 10,000 spine, joint, and nerve injections. He is active at Baptist Hospital Nassau, being both a consulting physician and member of the credentialing committee.
Dr. Loch has also been involved with numerous professional societies including the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), North American Spine Society (NASS), American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA), and has held leadership positions in the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). James Shields is a board certified Coastal Spine and Pain Center physician with more than 30 years clinical experience, including interventional pain management, pain medicine, anesthesiology and emergency medicine. Dr. Shields has leadership history in practice management, utilization management and quality improvement activities in the hospital and in a managed care setting.
Dr. Shields joined Coastal Spine and Pain Center from interventional pain management practices in Georgia, where he provided multiple treatments daily such as epidural steroid injections, selective nerve root injections and pain-relieving nerve blocks as part of comprehensive care.
Dr. Shields received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical School, Jackson, Miss. and holds a Master’s in Business Administration for Physicians from the University of South Florida, Tampa. Christine (Chris) Turner, ARNP is a licensed nurse practitioner with certifications in adult care, wound care and ostomy nursing. Turner has more than 20-years combined experience serving surgical intensive care and anesthesia care units, internal medicine and advanced practice. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Ball State University, Indiana and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Before joining Coastal Spine and Pain Center, Turner was a nurse practitioner at Amelia Internal Medicine providing care to adults with diabetes, hypertension, peripheral vascular disease obesity and hyperlipidemia. She was also a staff nurse at St. Vincent’s Heart & Vascular Center for pre- and post-procedure care.
Christopher Menster, MPAS, PA-C, is a certified physician assistant with more than eleven years of clinical experience, holding memberships in the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Florida Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons. He earned his Master of Physician Studies from the University of Florida College of Medicine School of Physician Assistant Studies, Gainesville, Florida.
Before joining Coastal Spine and Pain Center, Menster was a physician assistant with the Neurosurgery Complex Spine Team and as an APP Clinical Lead at UFHealth in Jacksonville, Florida. There, he worked with their spine specialist diagnosing and exploring surgical and non-surgical options regarding congenital and degenerative spinal conditions, and in the management of scoliotic deformities, high grade spondylolisthesis, neuro-oncologic spinal conditions and minimally invasive options for treatment. Other skills include extensive operating room, procedural training and acute care management of traumatic neurologic injuries. Menster has organized and managed psychiatric clinical trials for MDD, BPD, anxiety, PTSD, autism spectrum disorders, tardive dyskinesia and fibromyalgia.
