Hares Akbary, M.D. is board certified in both pain management and anesthesiology. He earned his doctorate degree from Saint Christopher’s College of Medicine in Luton, England in 2005. His medical residency in anesthesiology was completed at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He then completed a fellowship in pain medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.
Before joining Coastal Spine and Pain Center, Dr. Akbary was the medical director at the Center for Pain Management at Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, Ohio. He has also worked as an attending physician at Jax Spine and Pain Centers and the Nexus Pain Center in Columbus, Georgia.
Dr. Akbary has experience and training that allows him to successfully treat conditions such as osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis, chronic headaches and migraines, pain of the neck, back and joints and many other neuropathies and syndromes with chronic pain.
He has conducted research in molecular biochemistry and authored papers on various aspects of anesthesia interactions. Dr. Akbary brings fluency in German, French and Farsi to the Coastal Spine and Pain Center clinics.
